Purchasing a pram is one of the biggest investments when you have a new baby. A pram is a long term purchase so you must choose one that you not only like, but that will do the job for several years. There are several things to consider when purchasing a pram and we are here to help you with the decision.
Â
Check out below our top tips on things to consider when buying a pram
Â
Boot space
The last thing you want to do is purchase a double pram, only to find out that it doesn’t actually fit in your car. Different styles of double  prams fold up differently and some are bulkier than others once folded up. Some double prams have seats that can be removed. Which can take up less boot space, but you need to consider the intricacies of assembling and disassembling the pram each time you need to use it.
It is a good idea to not only measure your boot space but also measure the dimensions of the pram when it is folded up to determine if it will fit or not. Don’t just go on if it looks like it will fit, you need to ensure you measure it before making the purchase.

Things to consider when buying a pram: Additional children
Are you expecting twins, or are you purchasing the pram for children of different ages (ie a newborn and toddler). Â Or are you planning on expanding your family within the first few years of having your first baby? This is something to consider when purchasing a pram, because you can make a choice about whether to purchase a pram that will be able to hold another child.
Many inline double prams are able to be used with both one or two seats. Instead of having to purchase a whole new pram system when your second child comes along, you may be able to get away with just purchasing a second seat for the pram you already have.
If you are expecting twins, you may want a pram that allows you a clear line of sigh to both babies at the same time.
Â
Type and Style
With many different brands and styles on the market, it can be daunting deciding on a pram. But think about what will make you feel most comfortable when you are out and about.
Do you want a double pram that can both forward and rear face? So you can see your little one when they are a newborn looking up at you. And then turn them to look at the world as they grow.
Do you want a pram where you can attach your car capsule to the pram, saving time and effort when going places?
What about the location to each child? Do you want a side by side doble pram, or an inline double pram?

Â
Recline
Another thing to consider when buying a double pram is the type of seat recline that it has. Does the pram have the ability to lay completely flat for when you have a newborn? Or do you need to purchase the additional bassinet attachment?
Many smaller strollers do not have the reclining ability of bigger prams which makes them not ideal for newborn and small babies. Its important to look at the age recommendations for ach pram.
Having a pram that is suitable for all ages will save you money in the long run as you will not have to buy another pram down the track.

Things to consider when buying a pram: handle height
Your comfort when pushing a double pram is just as important as the comfort of those riding in the pram. You don’t want to be hurting your back or shoulders by having to lean over or raise your arms to be able to reach the handle.
It is a good idea to find out how tall the prams are and at what height the handle sits. That way you can choose one that you can comfortably push without having to alter your stature.
This can be hard if both parents will be pushing the pram and there is a big height difference between them. However, there are prams that also have adjustable handle heights so that both can still use them comfortably.
